This table had been well and truly chewed by a young puppy, it had enjoyed the table leg and even spent time scratching the table top.
Some may simply throw out the table and buy a new one when a puppy has chewed it to pieces like this, however this customer from Accrington, East Lancashire believes firmly in restoration and making things last especially when with a little TLC many items can be restored and brought back to former glory.
On inspection I explained to the customer that much of the damage to the leg could be restored and the table top could be given a new lease of life in little more than half a day.
The first job was to sand and fill the teeth marks, then strip the table top back to the bare wood, removing any old polish and or varnish.
The customers had chosen a rosewood wood dye for the final finished colour and took my advice to have a Shellac finished to the table top. Shellac also know as french polish will provide a hard wearing and high gloss finish to the table, whilst bringing out the true beauty of the wood.
As you can see from the before and after pictures below it is a truly splendid transformation and ensures a family dining table has many more years use left in it. If you are looking for a handyman in Standish, Wigan why not get in touch – no job too small for Handy Home Care.
